Kingpin of Salt Lake Sector V call center scam arrested from South Kolkata, 7 held so far

Bidhannagar Cyber Police have arrested seven individuals in connection with a fake call center operating out of Salt Lake Sector 5. The initial raid, conducted a few days ago based on specific intelligence, led to the arrest of three people. Following their interrogation, four more suspects were identified and arrested. The call center was allegedly engaged in fraudulent activities under the guise of offering software assistance.

On Monday night, police arrested the alleged kingpin, Shubhranarayan Das Mandal, from Narendrapur. Officers seized a mobile phone and a laptop from his possession during the arrest. According to police sources, Mandal was responsible for promising software support services to the call center. His role reportedly involved providing backend technical assistance that enabled the operation of the fraudulent setup.

The arrested individual is scheduled to be produced before the Bidhannagar Sub-divisional Court. Police are seeking his custody to conduct further interrogation. Investigators are continuing efforts to uncover additional details and trace other links related to the operation.
